16 August 2008: Ghoad
If it's excitement, energy and all out rock you are after then look no further! Ghoad were formed in 2002 by founder member and lead/rhythm guitarist Sy Verrall, the band was complete when Nige 'geezer' Godden (Bass) and Paul Johnson (Drums) were recruited and rock history was ready to be made.
Throughout the years the band have seen several vocalists pass through the ranksbut none were more able and willing than new recruit and vocalist extraordinaire Noel Morgan. Regulars of the Portland will know of this extremely talented frontman as he is often seen joining the stage on jam nights!
Often seen gigging all over the country and with a take no prisoners setlist the band cover such greats as Judas Priest, Saxon, Dio, AC/DC, Kiss Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, each song given the renewed energy and attitude they deserve.
Early 2009 will see Ghoad record their new self penned EP at Gems 21 studios in Boston, Leicestershire which is often frequented by NWOBHM band Saxon. So for an evening of great musicianship, and the best in classic rock/metal come check these guys out, you wont be disappointed.
